Quick answers

Can I change the controls?

Yes. Open Settings next to the controls list, click an action and press the key you want. You can also tune DAS (the delay before a held key repeats), ARR (the repeat speed) and the soft drop speed.

How does the piece order work?

Pieces come in shuffled bags of seven, so every piece appears once per bag and you never wait too long for a straight piece. The daily challenge uses the same order for everyone.

How to use the Block Puzzle

  1. Choose Marathon, Sprint, Ultra or the daily challenge and press Start (or Enter).
  2. Move with ← →, rotate with ↑/X (clockwise) or Z/Ctrl (counter-clockwise), soft drop with ↓ and hard drop with Space.
  3. Press C or Shift to hold a piece for later; the ghost shows where the piece will land and the right column shows the next five pieces.
  4. Fill complete rows to clear them: clearing four at once (a Quad) or using T-spins scores the most.
  5. On a phone, tap to rotate, drag to move, flick down to drop and flick up to hold, or use the on-screen buttons.

Frequently asked questions

What is a T-spin?

Rotating the T piece into a tight slot where three of the four corners around its center are filled. T-spins that clear lines score far more than ordinary clears.

Why does the piece slide before locking?

After a piece lands you have half a second to move or rotate it; each move resets the timer, up to 15 times, so you can slide pieces into gaps.

Does it work with reduced motion?

Yes. With your system's reduced-motion setting on, smooth falling, the drop trail and line-clear animations are turned off.
