Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between percentage change and percentage difference?
Percentage change compares a new value to an original one: (new − old) ÷ old × 100. Percentage difference compares two values with no direction, dividing their gap by their average.
What are percentage points?
When a rate moves from 10% to 12%, it rises by 2 percentage points, which is a 20% relative increase. The calculator shows both so the two are not confused.
